X-MEN: PREMIÈRE CLASSE

X-Men: Première classe est impeccablement fait et les 132 minutes du film s’écoulent en un rien de temps!

Je ne dévoilerai pas trop d’éléments, ni d’intrigue, ni de surprises, ni de clins d’oeil afin de ne pas vous gâcher le plaisir de la découverte. Sachez que l’esprit des X-Men, celui qui dominait dans les premier et deuxième (c’est d’ailleurs mon préféré) longs métrages de la trilogie précédente a été respecté. On y trouve : Première classe, ce mélange d’humour, d’action et de profondeur propre aux aventures des mutants. On suit donc, en parallèle, l’enfance de Charles Xavier (auquel James McAvoy donne un charme tout britannique) et Érik Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender dose habilement rage, douleur et émotion).

Raven (Jennifer Lawrence), future Mystique, y figure aussi et on apprend la nature de la relation qui la lie au futur professeur X. Mais alors que Charles devient professeur en génétique et est recruté par la CIA, Érik ne vit que pour se venger de l’homme qui lui a ravi son enfance. Petit à petit, les mutants qu’on a appris à connaître dans les films subséquents et/ou la bande dessinée arrivent dans le décor. Beast, Azazel (le père de Nightcrawler, mon personnage préféré après Wolverine), Banshee, Riptide et bien sûr Emma Frost.

LE MEILLEUR VOLET DE LA FRANCHISE

Le coeur de l’action se déroule en pleine crise des missiles cubains alors que Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon), un mutant aux super pouvoirs, décide de déclencher la troisième guerre mondiale. «Nous sommes les enfants de l’atome», clame-t-il, entrevoyant une apocalypse nucléaire. Évidemment, tout est bien qui finit bien... dans le sens large. Non l’Union soviétique et les États-Unis ne se détruisent pas à coups de missiles, mais cette première aventure de ceux qui s’appelleront les X-Men se solde aussi par un schisme, Érik, alias Magneto, réalisant que ses objectifs divergent trop de ceux de Charles.

C’est probablement le seul point négatif du long métrage, j’avoue que j’aurais bien vu un autre film explorant l’association entre Charles et Érik. Mais cela dit, X-Men: Première classe est, de loin, le meilleur volet de la franchise et se situe parfaitement dans la lignée du Star Trek (émotions et profondeur en plus) de J.J. Abrams.
